Chaplain and a Half: Fr. Brengartner's Life from Those Who Knew Him
Father Robert Earl Brengartner was a holy priest, and a stouthearted battlefield chaplain. In the course of his military career, he served his country when she needed him most: during a time of war. It is commendable for a person to summon the courage and volunteer to protect one’s neighbors and freedoms during a time of war. But Fr. Brengartner’s commitment to a lifetime of selfless service was extraordinary because it led him to minister to our nation’s heroes in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
The story of Fr. Brengartner preserves the legacy of a stellar military chaplain and a congenial priest of the Diocese of Youngstown.
