Miraculous Medals
In 1870 Mary appeared to St. Catherine Laboure’ in the form of the “Miraculous Medal” and explained that she wanted a medal struck as she appeared. It was to be worn about the neck and many graces would be obtained. The reverse side has two hearts beneath a large M with a bar and cross above. Her confessor wanted to know what to put on the back and Mary said the “M and two hearts express enough.” Around the medal is “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for who have recourse to thee.”
Her feast day is November 27.
